@wordswithbones: I created a newer, better global rebrand for 빽다방 that addresses all the issues with Paik’s Dabang. It’s extremely difficult to create a brand identity that works in two different territories and cultures, so let me know what you think of these suggestions. #koreanbrand #brandstrategy #brandidentity #branddesign #internationalbusiness
the connector for the "o" in both Won and Joe can be easily seen as a cursive "a", which is suboptimal for a new brand name, especially one that's not standard English

Korean companies entering the U.S. definitely should keep Korean (Hangul) in their signage because I think westerners are generally interested in learning to sound out words in Korean. It feels actually doable via self study unlike learning Chinese hanzi or Japanese kanji. I think Korean brands should lean into the fact that they have such an accessible writing system.

The rebrand doesnt even look like a restaurant 😭 It looks like the logo of a company that would like, do local shipping/deliveries or something 😭 I would never assume that logo meant coffee ever. Hot dogs if anything 😭

As a Londoner who sees (and uses) a lot of these quick service coffee places, I could totally see that branding doing well over here

Wow this way better than I thought. Frankly I thought just doing the alternative Romanization and swapping out Dabang would have been good enough but this is fire. (Baek’s Korean Coffeehouse) was my idea but this sooooo much better

Agree so much with taking into account how we read words from other languages when naming your brand. This is a great idea!

It would stick with US folks as they are familiar with Trader Joe's. It would be good if they understood Won as a Korean word, not like to have 'won' something in English.

Love the updated retro styling - especially for a quick service chain. Definitely keep the Hangul - the Joe part is very very clever. This branding would be a hit in LA for sure - perfectly sums up LA’s multicultural history and mid-century modern preferences 👏 outstanding work as usual

its better. but it wouldn't align with his current brand. he already has Paik's Noodle. So Paik's Coffee only makes sense. even if pronounced incorrectly. People already say Payk's Noodle. but they should not use dabang.

The styling makes it way more instagramable and TikTok able. Like capitalise on the blank street/atis esque market. On to a winner
