As a corrections RN, if we see someone slumped on the floor like that, we immediately think overdose and administer Narcan. If it isn’t, the narcan won’t affect them in any way. But if it is, they have a much higher chance of coming back. Also, it’s our literal profession to bring EVERYONE back even if we don’t believe they deserve it. Healthcare doesn’t discriminate. It’s in our oath. So while it’s tragic that he stabbed his son, they still had a job to do to save him.

"How did he know to grab the narcan?" Um.. Multiple reasons. The #1. The stuff he was doing has a strong ass smell. 2. Narcan is used almost* exclusively when someone is knocked out because if thats the issue: it helps fast. If not: your still okay. 3. He's a cop. Of course he's gonna asses the situation and react accordingly. He went in, smelled it, seen dude on the ground unconscious. 1+1=2 . Thats how they knew.
