he was alone there for 46 years working and working collecting data and doing all he could as the engineer. he wasnt a scientist he didnt know what to do but to keep studying and hoping to figure it out for his planet until grace showed up in a biggest big beam of light with his Petrovascope and got his attention literally his light in the dark

I saw a comment on another video saying what if when Rocky’s crew died he asked the universe to bring him someone so he wouldn’t be alone, around the same time Grace would’ve been born 😭😭

The bit that gets me is he could have gone home. He had the resources and the fuel and even the time to go home, get a new crew, fix the ship, refuel, and return. Erid had something like 50 years before astrophage became a problem. Which means that for 46 years he had committed to trying to solve this all on his own.
