Punk rock singer Henry Rollins and Joe Cole were friends for years having met in the mid 80's. They became best friends, roommates, and close creative collaborators. Cole eventually became Rollins roadie. In December 1991, after returning to their shared home in Venice Beach after attending a concert at Whisky A Go Go, two men showed up on the steps to Cole's and Rollins's home demanding money pointing a gun at them. The robbers, being frustrated that Cole and Rollins only had $50, told the friends to go inside for more money.  Something happened and Cole was shot in the face at close range while Henry took off and got away. He alerted the police but the murder/ robbery still remains unsolved.  Rollins, clearly traumatized, stated in a 1992 interview with The Los Angeles Times, that he kept a plastic container full of soil soaked with Cole's blood. Rollins said,
