Everything you need to know before watching Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. What is The Odyssey about? The Odyssey tells the story of King Odysseus’ epic 10-year journey back to his kingdom of Ithaca after the Trojan War, where he must overcome gods, monsters, and countless obstacles before reuniting with his family. Who is Odysseus? Odysseus is the King of Ithaca, famous not for his strength, but for his intelligence, clever strategies, and leadership. It begins where Troy ends. If you’ve watched Troy, you’ve already seen the beginning of Odysseus’ story. The Odyssey starts after the fall of Troy. Why did the Trojan War begin? Prince Paris of Troy took Helen, Queen of Sparta and wife of King Menelaus. In response, Menelaus and his brother Agamemnon united the Greek kings—including the legendary Achilles—to wage war against Troy. The Trojan Horse After 10 years of war, the Greeks finally captured Troy using the famous Trojan Horse, a brilliant plan devised by Odysseus. A war he never wanted. Odysseus had just become a father and wanted to stay home, but an oath he had sworn years earlier compelled him to join the Greek alliance. The real adventure begins. After Troy fell, most Greek kings returned home. Odysseus’ journey, however, lasted another 10 years, making it one of the greatest adventures in mythology. 20 Years. One Legend. 10 years fighting the Trojan War. 10 years trying to return home. The Odyssey is the unforgettable story of those remarkable 20 years. #fyp #movierecap #odyssey #christophernolan #carousel - @aakashshresthaaa
