Chara is not a demon, they’re a dead spirit of a child that doesn’t effect the choices that we, the player, make through Frisk. Calling the player a demon seems inaccurate too since the game seems to imply they’re closer to the Angel. I think it’s more accurate to say the player in both games are some sort of transcendent being

Most likely the soul in undertale is frisks. The soul isn’t the same one between both games, but the summoning soul theory for deltarune is pretty cool

What if Gaster was the one who summoned us in UT but of course it all went horribly wrong, shattering him across time and space. And causing us to show up much later than planned because of said shattering. Hence why he assists us with our Vessel before Kris summons us
