@lustig_lore: Sōya Azashiro comes from Spirits Are Forever With You, the Narita light novel — not mainline canon, but Kubo-blessed. He’s the 8th Kenpachi, predecessor several generations back from Zaraki, and he took the title off Kenpachi Kuruyashiki in a straight duel. His Bankai fused him with the entirety of the Seireitei itself, giving him total sensory omniscience across the whole city — basically nothing happened without him knowing instantly. Using that, he eventually launched a coup against the Gotei 13. Every captain except Kyōraku and Ukitake tried to bring him down and failed outright — none of their attacks even landed meaningfully. It took the Royal Guard stepping in to force him to stand down, and he’s been sitting in Muken ever since, the same cell block Aizen later occupied.
