Tyler Robinson's roommate and romantic partner said he stayed at their apartment the night before Charlie Kirk was shot at Utah Valley University, and he appeared to be going to work when he left early the day of the shooting. Lance Twiggs said he thinks he met Robinson in 2023 but "I've known him longer than that," apparently through online gaming. "When I first met him, I didn't know him super well. He was just a new roommate, so I knew he knew my friend group, and I knew he liked playing games, but that's about it," Twiggs said in a video recorded interview played in court during the fourth day of Robinson's preliminary hearing in his capital murder case today (Thursday, July 9) in Provo. "Alright, so you said when you first met, met you were roommates?" asked Ryan McBride, chief of the General Crimes Section for the Utah County Attorney’s Office. "Yeah," Twiggs said. "Okay. And then at some point your relationship progressed to something more than just roommates, is that right?" McBride asked. "Mmmhmm," Twiggs said. "When was that?" McBride asked. "I think we started dating two or three months after we moved in," Twiggs said. Twiggs said they lived in separate rooms in an apartment in St. George, Utah. Twiggs was working "bathtub and shower repair and stuff in new construction" and Robinson was in trade school and working as an electrician Robinson stayed there on Sept. 9 and left early, Twiggs said. "I don't know an exact time. I just know he left early. I heard him leaving, and he just said he had a like long drive to work that day, so he was leaving early," Twiggs said. The proceeding underway in Utah's 4th Judicial District in Provo is not a trial. It is a hearing for Graf to determine if probable cause supports the charges against Robinson.
