The Count of Monte Cristo is, without a doubt, the best story I have ever read. I laughed, I cried. It is a thick, long book, but it honestly did not feel long. I was intimidated for a while. It is a revenge tale at its finest. Historical fiction at its finest. Action and adventure at its finest. has Gothic elements sprinkled in. I went on a Dumas deep dive after reading it, his other stuff is good, but not as good as CoMC.

The only reason I have not devoured the other two books in the Tide Child trilogy is because my TBR is a little out of hand right now, otherwise I would have ordered those books the day I finished the first one. The world building is fantastic, it’s almost like a puzzle you have to figure out as you read because the narrator isn’t just giving paragraph after paragraph of exposition. You have to look at every bit of context, every turn of phrase, every character interaction in order to build this world inside your head

A Song for Arbonne is a very different story from Lions of Al-Rassan, plotwise, but has the exact same feel and atmosphere! Beautiful, romantic, epic tale. If Lions of Al-Rassan was a top 10 book for you, A Song for Arbonne will be Top 11.

Just finished The Curse Of The Mistwraith and it was good, but the prose is overwhelming at times. I think heavy bejeweled prose should be used in the high points in a book and not for every single sentence. It took me way longer than normal to finish. That being said, i really wanted to pick up the next one.

lancelot has some of the best character work in fiction, and the bone ships has a great concept and stunning prose (and also good characters!!) highly recommend both; i’m excited to continue them 🫶🫶

monte cristo is an amazing book that was written by a general or son of a general under napolean. i cant remember exactly. also as it is OLD it isnt in copywrite so is a free audio book on youtube. you can just listen to it
