sent this to my partner who my parents actively hate (we are no contact now for many reasons) and did almost from the start. I was a disabled, autistic, formerly homeschooled and isolated, living alone (dorms) in a new town, unable to drive, 20 year old who didn't know she had Schizoaffective yet...I found someone absolutely amazing who loved me and suddenly I had a safety net where I could finally stand up to my parents. I was hurting and being beat down by them every time they insisted I see them and they just showed up, or every long mean phone call, or on breaks... I'd stopped going home on breaks by the time I met him Junior Year (college), but since I started standing up for myself more once he was in the picture and going home significantly less and then not at all, they blame him for why I hate them. no I hate you because you started beating and abusing me from the time I was a tiny toddler, you said horrific and cruel things to me all my life, raised me in filth, neglected me, isolated me from my peers, etc etc My partner and I are getting married this year in October on our 5 year anniversary of dating. my parents are not invited

my mom told me at 16 when she found out id lost my virginity, that the reason I always had an attitude with her was because now I think im grown and have turned into a slut....I was 16, and it was with one person that inwas in a committed relationship with. but yeah, I was a slut apperently and thats why I gave her attitude 🙄

The “Because I Said So” parents really never considered the fact that they weren’t gonna be able to control their child for the rest of their lives with the only reason being “bc I’m the parent, bc I said so.” I hated being a child, I love being an adult.
