Thats why me and my friends use this app to control the pace of our conversations and we can take turns speaking and it will warn us if we are over extending our allocated speaking time. It also monitors conversations for any subcontext clues like sacasm or jealousy and gives a full report breakdown at the end.

You say that it’s basic etiquette but I’ve learned that culturally that’s not true. For some places in the US yes, in other parts it’s considered rude to leave abruptly and socially/culturally it’s basic etiquette to do a “long goodbye”.

Same thing while on the phone. Had a neighbor who’d call and just would not let me get off the phone. I swear it always was a 3-4 hour call. He’d rehash the whole convo every time I said I had to go. I told him I’m not a big phone talker.

That’s why you give them a 5-10 minute courtesy warning that you’re leaving so they can get everything out they need to or you just do the Irish goodbye so they don’t even have the opportunity to stop you.
