Yes. The author mentioned this in an interview. The book version of Rhaenyra and the TV series version are two completely different characters. The series version is good, caring, and responsible, and every mistake she makes is the result of other people's errors. The book version is a dragon! She was incredibly hot-headed, brooked no dissent, and after the death of her children, she became extremely cruel to both the innocent and the guilty. Even Daemon tried to rein her in—but he couldn't. Rhaenyra is remembered very poorly, as the worst ruler in Westeros (no one cared that she was a victim of the war and her brother, or that she had lost everything). Even her sons couldn't restore her reputation, as doing so would have sparked another rebellion. That is why no one ever named a child Rhaenyra again; the name was considered cursed. And this is precisely a story about just how unfair the world is!! BLACK QUEEN FOREVER 👑🧎♀️

this is not a flex it’s actually really sad that her life was so tragic that future generations wouldn’t name their children after her because they saw it as a bad omen, just like there are no other targaryens named ‘visenya’ but there are so many variations on ‘rhaenys’.

There are so many cool Targaryen/Velaryon names that I wish were used more than once. Jacearys, Lucerys, Valaar, Matarys, Maekar, Aerea, Aelor, Aelora, Daenora, and so many others. It would have been cooler to get more of these names instead of having so many Aegons.

Daenys, Aenar, Aenys I, Alysanne, Aerea, Alyssa (Targaryen, dato che sua madre era una Velaryon), Vaegon, Maegelle, Viserra, Saera, Valerion, Gael, Daemon (Daemon Blackfyre era Targaryen di sangue ma non di nome), Helaena, Aemond, Baela, Jaehaera, Maelor, Daena, Naerys, Rhaegel, Maekar I, Valarr, Matarys, Aelor, Aelora, Daenora, Rhae, Duncan, Shaera, Rhaelle, Shaena (e anche se alcuni di loro sono nati morti, tecnicamente contano comunque come Targaryen, dato che sono tutti menzionati nei libri)
