An ex of mine worked in construction, the amount of these luxury buildings that are empty is astounding. Even more wasteful are the rich people who buy brand new apartments and then demolish it all because they want to re design their floor. Millions of dollars wasted.

Why do you keep saying 60 or 70 the medium people middle to low income what about 30,000 what about 40,000 there are people who are trying to survive on that amount of money and they can’t find apartments. Because they’re only giving them the people who are 70,000 80,000 and 100 grand. Everyone else is expected it to go into HPD housing??? Why don’t we actually make affordable housing affordable, starting with people who are making an earning minimum wage, which is no more than 30,000 to 40,000 a year.

The owners (landlords) of the rent stabilize apartments leave them vacant because they don’t want to pay to get them fixed because if they pay to get them fixed, they will be losing money on the apartment. I just think that the city should own and maintain them. But that’s probably even more expensive.
