God is not an insecure Father competing with His gifts for your attention. He is a loving Father who speaks through His Word, His Spirit, wise counsel, and sometimes through discipline. If we refuse His voice, He may allow us to experience the consequences of our choices, but Scripture never teaches that His default method is to take away what we love simply to make us look at Him.
