Another moment that deeply struck me is when Penelope asks Odysseus whether he and his men are, in fact, the enemies who were foretold to come from the sea. His answer, “yes,” is devastating. Because the real enemy returning from the sea is not some foreign army. It is the men who left for Troy and are now coming home transformed by war. They return to the same world they left behind, but they are no longer the same people. War does not end when the fighting stops. It follows those who survive it home. Odysseus and his men are both victims and carriers of the violence they experienced and inflicted. In a sense, they have become the very thing they once believed they were fighting against. Odysseus returns home, but Troy returns with him. And perhaps that is the real meaning behind his answer to Penelope: the greatest threat to Ithaca is not an enemy that will one day arrive from across the sea. It is the violence, guilt, and trauma that its own men are bringing back with them.

Watched it today and really don’t understand the hatred towards Tom Holland. He played a naive child who was coming of age. Thought he was brilliant as was everyone else

The storm scene on the ocean was incredible. Such an assault on the senses with the sound. I wear hearing aids and took them out.

The role doesn’t give him that much to work with, but Holland completely hits the ceiling with what he was given. Underplaying and overplaying it at the same time is exactly what makes that mature-versus-immature battle work. He didn't need to be flashy, he just needed to be real

One of my favorite details is in the Circe scene when she’s turning the pigs back into men and whispering “Back into your disguises.” It’s a really subtle detail but does a lot to accentuate the point of that sequence.
