“I love you but” isn’t a good one. It teaches the opposite. You’re then trying to excuse a criticism which is manipulative. In my home, we don’t say “I love you but” because it can weaponize our love. If we’re upset, we say so without using “I love you” to manipulate the situation—instead, we just say we need a minute or time to reflect, and ik when he does, it’s not that he’s leaving me or extremely angry, it’s just time to reflect. Sometimes in heated fights we do clarify “I need to calm down, I love you, I’ll talk to you in a bit”, however we never us “but” just an idea.
