Compression garments are important, but they are only ONE part of Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT) - the only recognized and gold standard treatment for lymphedema in the US. CDT includes: ✨ Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) 🩹 Compression therapy (bandaging and garments) 🏃🏾 Therapeutic exercise 🧴 Skin care 📚 Education for lifelong self-management Depending on where you are in your lymphedema journey, you may not need every part at every visit. For example, if your swelling is already well controlled, your therapist may focus more on compression garments. But if someone has active swelling, fibrosis, or tissue changes, compression garments alone are usually not considered complete lymphedema therapy.
