I don’t like the fact that your filters already basically broke the ac (even with construction 1 week shouldn’t do that) and that the batteries for smoke alarms are already dead. Something seems really weird with the builder

You should talk to the local fire ems department. And let them know that your husband is paralyzed.. So they can come up with an evacuation plan so they know. If something ever does happen that Nevin’s in a wheelchair. Most fire departments do this free of charge.

They always seem to go off during the night, that’s so annoying. It’s weird your battery already died though. They usually last at least a couple of years
