The anime itself was a 6/10. It’s so forgettable. The only characters I remember from that anime were astolfo, shakesphere, Jean, mordred, sieg, Siegfried, Spartacus, and Jack the Ripper.

Sieg (and by extension Apocrypha is not that bad) is not that bad, it’s a solid 7 to low 8/10. You say he takes away from every character and then you explain how every character gets a decent amount of screen time and characterization as they help him, so that complaint doesn’t make much sense. Sieg fighting Amakusa also isn’t random: He wants eliminate conflict and suffering by turning everyone into incorporeal souls, in other words, use a incomplete version of Heavens feel that will make people immortal and stop conflict BUT will also eliminate all will and autonomy. THIS is why Seig fights him, because that’s technically what he was before, a soul/body without will or autonomy that was free from conflict or suffering, but upon gaining a will he wanted to start living, Sieg simply doesn’t want all of humanity to be that way cause for him that was torture (or you can take Sieg as a representation how humans can’t truly live without some kinda of suffering). In Short: Amakusa had a good reason but his method was terrible, which is why Sieg stood in his way.
