A penny is a very small item and if he hid it in the barn it would be overlooked by all. Someone possibly knew he had obtained it and knew its worth and wanted it and he was aware leading him to go to drastic measures to hide it?

what could he possibly have discovered while researching Abraham Lincoln that would have lead to the point he was at?! An Abraham Lincoln penny comes to mind as some of them are worth quite a bit of money. Could he possibly have hid the penny in the barn and left and someone rifled through everything while he was hiding it in the barn and he left and walked back to find the vehicle rifled through?

After retracing his own steps back out of the barn is it possible that he encountered fowl play after returning and finding the vehicle ransacked and was then taken from that point placed into another vehicle and tortured for information regarding the whereabouts of the Lincoln head penny? Some of those Pennie’s had a misprint making them worth millions of dollars, perhaps someone involved with greed wanted it as a further assets to their collection?
