@davidhittla: There are a few things about moving to LA that nobody really tells you until you’re already here. Hi, I’m David Hitt, a 30-year Realtor, and I’ve helped a lot of people relocate to this city. First, distance means something different here — five miles can be twenty minutes or an hour, depending on the time of day. Second, neighborhoods change personality block by block, more than people expect. Third, you’ll probably need a car, even in the “walkable” areas, at least some of the time. Fourth, the weather really is that consistent, and it changes how you use your home. And fifth — and this one surprises people the most — the right neighborhood matters more here than almost anywhere else I’ve worked.
