Just a friendly reminder to all: I understand where you might be coming from as it’s natural to want to find blame. I have to add that children with autism can disappear in the matter of a second. It happens to parents and that’s why you might often see their child on a leash. In the context of a day home, it’s unrealistic and abusive to keep them on a leash indoors so ofc that’s not an option. Plus the childcare staff have many children to manage, and while there are ratio changes (ie they are often counted as a two or three) with children who have developmental needs. The best option is to have a private OT or other disabilities worker who only works with that child… but that’s not always accessible to parents based on cost and availability.
