Nobody called it world war 1/2 during the conflict. In 1914, ww1 had many different names and in 1939 ww2 was called the European conflict. The conflict in Iran is very likely going to escalate into a conflict which will escalate into something else entirely. Perhaps we are living in the early phase of ww3, perhaps we aren’t however, the odds clearly favour one of those options.
