I literally came up with ideas then deleted them because you mentioned it so many times. Manhattan Beach is fun though, pier, free aquarium on the end, beach volleyball. Parking is terrible though, although technically you can take the cities shuttle from the k line

To the person who asked the question: the best thing you can do is understand your own interests and what you want out of your trip. People who don’t enjoy LA vacations are those who stay in hotels near LAX, go to Disney and the walk of fame and spend most of their time on the freeway. Think about what you want. Whatever you’re into, you can find it in LA. I lived in LA briefly in the late-90s, and a relative who’s into true crime visited me. We spent one full day just going to the spots where famous LA crimes happened. A friend of mine worked for a TV producer who built a house on the site of the Tate-LoBianco murders, and I got my relative in to see the house/grounds. He still talks about it. Not the free studio tour I got him, not the best Korean food outside of Korea. 🤷♂️

Good list! I’d also recommend going to a show at the Hollywood Bowl or the Greek, will be a good time even if you don’t know who’s playing!

anajak thai in sherman oaks, thrift & vintage shopping on sherman way in canoga park, biking around the sepulveda basin/balboa park, mini golf & arcade games at castle park, shopping along ventura bl around laurel canyon bl and van nuys bl, universal studios is no-brainer, warner bros studio tour, horror row + shops on magnolia bl in burbank btwn hollywood way & buena vista st, zombie joe’s underground theater, drinks at the witch’s cottage, san fernando mall & swap meet, studio city farmers market, noho food truck collective

This is a great list! The Warner Bros Studio tour is also a great one. If you want to combine tasty Chinese food and a botanical garden, the LA Arboretum is great and not crazy expensive like Huntington Gardens. In summer you can see free Shakespeare productions in Griffin Park through the Independent Shakespeare Company. And there are tons of great revival movie theaters. I like Vidiots. And if you're already in Northeast LA, go see the puppet show at Bob Baker Marionette Theater in Highland Park.

As an LA native (who lives in the SGV) I endorse this list - you covered a lot of what I would recommend. Would add the Sunday Hollywood Farmer’s Market - you get to see the Hollywood walk of fame if you want to, and the produce is excellent and there’s a ton of really good prepared food and great people watching. I think downtown museums - the Broad and the Grammy Museum - can also be a good outing. I do think that the appeal of LA is more the lifestyle than the attractions, so live like a local. Get a matcha, do some vintage shopping, visit a cool indie bookstore. Maybe go to the Hollywood Bowl or an outdoor movie with Cinespia or Street Food Cinema.

Only 2 additions I have, if you’re a sports/baseball fan the dodger stadium tour is absolutely worth it. They go over not only history of the stadium and team but also historic events there like pope John Paul II doing mass there and the Elton John concerts. Other addition is Hollywood Bowl. If there’s a concert or event there, always worth going to, but recommend to take transit as parking is stack parking and sells out in advance.

The Broad museum, Museum of Contemporary Art, Central Library, Walt Disney Concert Hall, LA Cathedral and Grand Park are basically along the same corridor on Grand Street between Temple and 5th in DTLA, and just a few blocks from Grand Central Market & Angel’s Flight funicular.

Be aware not all taco trucks or stands are made equal. Tbh a lot are not as consistently good. I recommend angels Tijuana tacos, el flamin in echo park pretty good , the truck in front of 7 eleven on Figueroa in highland park , and in Venice there’s a little stand in front of ralphs that is run by good people , slightly cheaper prices but good quality still
