အာဇာနည်နေ့မှာ ကျွန်တော့်အဘိုး ဗိုလ်ချုပ်အောင်ဆန်းနဲ့ မြန်မာနိုင်ငံအတွက် အသက်ပေးခဲ့ကြတဲ့ အာဇာနည်အားလုံးကို ဂုဏ်ပြုအောက်မေ့ပါတယ်။ သူတို့မျိုးဆက်က မြန်မာနိုင်ငံရဲ့ လွတ်လပ်ရေးကို ရယူပေးခဲ့ပါတယ်။ မျိုးဆက်သစ်တွေကတော့ အဲဒီစွန့်လွှတ်အနစ်နာခံမှုတွေ အလဟဿ မဖြစ်သွားစေဖို့ တာဝန်ရှိပါတယ်။ ဖက်ဆစ်ကို ဆန့်ကျင်တဲ့ တိုက်ပွဲ၊ လွတ်လပ်ရေးရဖို့ တိုက်တဲ့တိုက်ပွဲဟာ ၁၉၄၇ ခုနှစ်မှာ မပြီးဆုံးခဲ့ပါဘူး။ ဒီနေ့အထိ ဆက်လက်ရှိနေဆဲပါ။ ကျွန်တော့်မေမေတစ်ယောက်တည်း ဒီဝန်ကို မထမ်းဆောင်နိုင်ပါဘူး။ မေမေသက်ရှိထင်ရှား ရှိနေသေးရဲ့လား၊ မေမေ့ကျန်းမာရေးအခြေအနေ ဘယ်လိုရှိနေသလဲ၊ ဘယ်နေရာမှာ ထိန်းသိမ်းခံထားရသလဲဆိုတာကို ဘယ်သူမှ မသိကြပါဘူး။ မတရားဖမ်းဆီးထိန်းသိမ်းခံထားရတာ ငါးနှစ်ကျော်လာတဲ့အထိ ကျွန်တော့်မိသားစုမှာ သူမ အသက်ရှင်နေဆဲဖြစ်ကြောင်း ယုံကြည်စိတ်ချရပြီး လွတ်လပ်စွာ အတည်ပြုနိုင်တဲ့ သက်သေတစ်ခုတောင် မရရှိသေးပါဘူး။ မြန်မာနိုင်ငံရဲ့ အနာဂတ်ဟာ လွတ်လပ်မှု၊ တရားမျှတမှုနဲ့ ဒီမိုကရေစီကို ယုံကြည်သူတိုင်းရဲ့ လက်ထဲမှာ ရှိပါတယ်။ On Martyrs' Day, we honour my grandfather, General Aung San, and all those who gave their lives for Burma. Their generation won Burma's independence. This generation must not allow that sacrifice to be lost. The struggle against fascism did not end in 1947. It continues today. My mother cannot carry this burden alone. Nobody knows her condition or where she is being held. More than five years after her unjust imprisonment, my family still has no credible, independently verified proof that she is alive.
