@cortneycabrera: 3 years ago today we officially adopted our daughters. I knew within seconds of meeting them, they were ours. I didn’t know how, when, or why.. but I knew. I remember the day I met them down to what they were both wearing. I remember everything so clearly. Most moms meet their babies in the maternity ward, I met mine in the DCS lobby. There’s many things I wish I could change about their story but I choose to trust in his promises and all the things I’ve nearly demanded over their lives since becoming their mom 6 years ago. I’m inspired by their courage, moved by their willingness to forgive, and overwhelmed by their genuine sincerity despite their trauma. Indie is and always has been my very best friend. She has an infectious energy and is the light in every room. Heidi Blue is everything I’m not. Kind, generous, always willing to include the ones who feel forgotten. She’s more worried about how she makes others feel than how she feels. I hope to be more like Blue. Our lives are forever changed from this very day 3 years ago. Mama loves you forever.
