CIA assigned? No CIA doesn’t “assign”, they work with. Delta was never offered the opportunity to train for what was then called Neptune Spear, it was assigned to DEVGRU/Red Squadron ….Admiral McRaven/JSOC influenced. Dale Comstock has never said Delta was offered this mission. Come on guys, gotta do a little homework.

That rumor simply isn’t true. There is no credible evidence that Delta Force refused the mission to kill Osama bin Laden. The most likely explanation is that DEVGRU (SEAL Team 6) had spent years operating in Afghanistan, building extensive intelligence networks, local contacts, and operational experience. Delta Force, on the other hand, was primarily focused on Iraq at the time and had developed most of its intelligence and experience there. In other words, Afghanistan was much more familiar territory for DEVGRU than it was for Delta Force. The decision was an operational one based on experience and mission requirements—not because Delta Force turned the mission down. Former Delta Force operator Chris VanSant also talks about this on the Shawn Ryan Show. 😉
