This doesn't reflect the church. but honestly, what the bishop said wasn't ok, if there are those types of people in the ward, parents should be warned so the child's safety comes first.

He wasn’t saying this isn’t the place to say that in the way you think. It was a testimony meeting where you can go up and bare your testimony and one of the rules is to keep it pretty short and don’t bring story’s or personal stuff into it.

Richard G Scott gave a conference talk on the topic, and included that the victim needs to search their heart and repent for the ways they contributed to their abuse. those who think this is a "it's not the church it's the people" need a reality check

I was abused and tortured as a kid. I would bare my testimony as a sneaky way to beg for help. the bishops told me I wasnt allowed to speak of what I was going through. I was told to keep silent

Literally the reason why I walked away from the church. They protect those who harm children and as a mom, I had to take a double take when I heard more and more cases of it. I will not step foot in there again. Never.

The person bearing their testimony, probably thought long and hard before saying anything, because they were being silenced elsewhere. A slap in every victims face. The church is not a safe place. I will die on this hill. Speaking from experience.
