That’s exactly what came into my head yesterday. I spent years chasing a career, when I should have been seeking my vocation…. And that hit me like a wake up call. Kids don’t case the education race of performance based grades = your worth. “Be ambitious for the higher gifts… faith, hope & love… the greatest of these is love” (The bible)💗

I’m a used car salesman. One of the most distrusted industries on earth. But I made up my mind to always glorify God and do the right thing ALWAYS! And it’s paid huge dividends for myself and my clients. Doesn’t matter that you do

This is hard to understand when you’re young. But as you get older you see how tough life is and nothing has meaning without God. Your purpose then becomes to walk w Him bc that’s the only thing that feels like it matters. You need something much bigger than you. You need a foundation

And 👏🏽 we all 👏🏽 have 👏🏽 the same 👏🏽 calling 👏🏽. Share the gospel, the great commission. Do you have gifts and talents you enjoy? Do other people recognize those gifts in you? Do they correlate with scripture? Great! Do those things to the glory of God. But don’t get bogged down trying to find your “calling”. It’s already spelled out.

I needed to hear this. I'm disabled and sometimes just feel so limited by my illnesses. I can only work part time so I can't donate much money. My low stamina and fatigue make it really hard to volunteer (at least, I haven't yet found something I can really do). When I'm not working I have to force myself to rest so I can recover enough to work my next shift. I've felt for a long time that I'm disappointing God, that I'm letting him down. But to hear that I just need to work with what I've got and live from love. That fills me with so much peace.

When I was a youth group leader some 20 years ago, I always told the kids God isnt so concerned with what your job will be when you grow up, its how you represent God when you do your work

I agree with the heart of what you're saying. God's will is clearly revealed in Scripture: love God, love our neighbor, act justly, show mercy, and share the good news. Those things are foundational. Where I think we need to be careful is concluding that this is all God has to say to us. If we believe God's will is only the commands already revealed in Scripture, we can unintentionally stop seeking His personal direction. We stop asking, "Lord, where are You leading me today?" Throughout Scripture, God didn't just give people general commands. He also personally directed Abraham, Moses, Ruth, David, Jonah, the prophets, and even the disciples when Jesus said, "Come, follow Me." He invited them to surrender their own plans and allow Him to lead them. Sometimes, when we're truly tuned in to the Holy Spirit, God does speak with remarkable specificity. Sometimes He may impress on someone's heart, "Doctor," just as you mentioned in your example. That isn't the only way God speaks or leads, but I don't think we should dismiss the possibility that He still gives specific direction when His people are listening. I don't believe God's moral will and His personal direction are competing ideas. I believe His direction is part of His will. Proverbs 3:5–6 says that if we trust in the Lord and acknowledge Him in all our ways, He will direct our paths. Romans 8:14 says that those who are God's children are led by the Spirit of God. So yes, we should obey what God has already revealed in His Word. But we should also remain surrendered, listening for the Holy Spirit's leading, because I believe part of walking in God's will is allowing Him to direct our steps.
