Okay. Former tire plant worker, about to be going back there. The color comes from carbon black. It’s an extremely fine powder that adds strength, rigidity, and durability to the tires. But god forbid it gets on you. You’ll be scrubbing your skin for weeks. Without that carbon black, you’d be lucky to get 3-4 months before the tires started to crumble because latex rubber without that compound is soft, and vulnerable to the weather and terrain. It adds extreme strength to the tires because of the molecular layout of the carbon black.

And another question. Why do they make vehicles with the ability to go 150mph when the speed limit in most places is 30-55?

except pink tires would be stained within a week or two bc of the asphalt on the roads 😭

black protects against UV that could damage them from the sun, and carbon black is a strengthening material helping them stay sturdy! i referenced this in my demonstration speech doing eyeliner lol cause tires and eyeliners share the same carbon (carbon black) creating their color!!

Because of how tires are made! Carbon black is added to the rubber compound to strengthen it and protect it from UV radiation! It’s really cool

Tyres are black because they contain a high proportion of carbon black, which is basically super fine particles of carbon. This improves strength, abrasion resistance and heat conductivity which means the tyre lasts much longer (source: work experience with Kumho)

tyres are black because they added carbon to them to increase the durability and lifespan.

the colorants make the rubber weaker and more prone to fail. used to work in a rubber plant.

Well fun fact the first tires used was actually white, but they punctured easily so scientists put carbon powder into the tire mix and that’s why they are black today.

Yes. Get pink tires and then I’m abt 2 months not even, your tires will covered in asphalt. Your pink tires will end up being black anyway

Theoretically you could have colorful tires, but they wouldn’t last long. Theres a specific carbon powder that is applied to tires to make them as durable as they are and the powder happens to be black
