@ashbg.motherhood: We taught our daughters to be doctors and lawyers and engineers and CEOs. We cheered when they entered every room that had previously been closed to them. We called it progress. And it was. But while we were teaching girls to reach higher, nobody was teaching boys to look around. Nobody taught them to notice. To plan. To carry the invisible weight of keeping a household and a family functioning. Nobody told them that cooking dinner every night and booking the dentist and knowing what size shoes their child wears is also work. Real, skilled, unrelenting work. Work that has always been done and has never once been counted. So we ended up with a generation of women who can do everything. And are expected to. Women who work full time and carry the mental load and raise the children and maintain the relationships and manage everyone’s emotions and still somehow feel like they are not doing enough. And a generation of men who were never asked to do the second half.
I hate how we have normalized feminism as women imiting men instead of also focusing in men learning from women

my dad did way more raising me than my mom. thats how your parents raised you. my dad cooked dinner, made lunches, handled the finances, laundry, dishes, made and drove us to doctor dentist and orthodontist appointments, booked all our flights, all our sports games and practices, and worked full time. this was back in the 80s and 90s so he was way ahead of the times

Feminism should do that not patriarchy. But it’s a great point.
