Because we are living longer and longer. Humans have used forms tooth brushes throughout most of history. Animals eat things like bone that naturally scrape off plaque etc.

I mean no other animal in nature sythenthisizes chemicals in a lab to cure diseases and kill cancer, should we let just let all the sick people live and die on their? also what on about cavemen had all kinds of issues with tooth decay, cavities and infection. Some of the earliest medicines we've found are believed to have been for toothache and there's evidence to suggest trepanition was used for tooth aches

We literally aren’t lol, a lot of animals brush their teeth just in different ways. We are the only animals with the advancements to fully prevent our teeth from rotting out, and many MANY wild animals lose their teeth that way. Animals eat bones or chew on various types of sticks to try and brush their teeth.

Yeah and we are also the only animals who have extended our average lifespans by decades. We brush our teeth to keep to healthier for longer than they were “designed” for.

We are the only animals who have worked out that brushing your teeth stops them from rotting. If a lion could understand the concept of bacteria and tooth decay and could find a way to brush its teeth then it would.
