I stopped because I thought he was cute. I stayed because he wouldn’t stop asking for belly rubs and back scratches 🥰 I had absolutely no idea prairie dogs could be kept as pets. In my head, they belonged in nature documentaries, popping their heads out of the ground somewhere in the middle of a huge prairie. Instead, I found myself completely obsessed with this tiny little creature who just wanted attention. He was curious, gentle, full of personality and somehow managed to make me smile in less than five minutes. But as much as I loved meeting him, I couldn’t stop thinking about the fact that an animal made to dig endless tunnels, explore and live in huge communities was sitting behind a few metal bars. He stole my heart, but he also left me thinking long after I walked away. 🤍 #PrairieDog #wildlife #fy Post viral response Thank you all for the love on this video. 🤍 A lot of you have been asking if I took him home, so I just wanted to clarify that I didn’t. He wasn’t my pet. I was simply lucky enough to meet him. He completely stole my heart, and I can see why so many of you fell in love with him too. 🥹 As much as I adore animals, I know I don’t currently have the time, experience or lifestyle to give any animal the care and commitment it deserves. Bringing a pet home is a lifelong responsibility, and I think it’s important to make that decision only when you know you can provide the best possible life for them. I truly hope this little guy finds a loving family that can give him everything he needs. He’ll always be one of the sweetest little animals I’ve ever met. 🤍
