@charles_dowding: Big surprise, corn transplanted 25th April from a sowing in the small cells of CD module trays two weeks earlier, then endured the big cold spell of mid May with fleece over all the time, next photo is 23rd June and then today, while watering, I noticed cobs which are swollen even though the tassels are not especially brown.
