Mexican Catholic family, my cousin needed special permission to have his funeral and burial with the church after he 🔫 himself, he was 19 and being denied his right because he couldn’t be ‘forgiven’ for his ‘sin’. I haven’t been religious since.

It wasn’t the religion it was the spaniards. They tormented people for no reason and claimed it was Gods will. The priests and nuns that came with them were gentle and advocated for the rights of natives. We also have to thank the apparition of Our Lady of Guadalupe, her apparition converted millions and ended human sacrifice.
