Kowloon Mosque & Islamic Centre: Hong Kong’s Islamic Gem 🕌🇭🇰 Nestled in Tsim Sha Tsui, this is Hong Kong’s largest mosque—a stunning blend of history, architecture, and community. 🏛️ Key History & Facts • Origins (1896): Built to serve British Indian Muslim troops stationed at Whitfield Barracks (now Kowloon Park). Funded by soldier donations; first Imam was Maulvi Gulab Shah. • Rebuild (1984): Damaged by MTR construction in 1976; demolished in 1980. The current building opened May 11, 1984, costing HK$25 million. Designed by architect I.M. Kadri in modern Islamic style. • Scale: Spans 1,500 sq.m with 4 11m minarets, a 9m dome, and space for 3,500 worshippers. Managed by the Incorporated Trustees of the Islamic Community Fund of Hong Kong. 🚇🚌How to Get There • MTR: Tsim Sha Tsui Station Exit A1 → 3-min walk (right next to Kowloon Park).
