To be fair, no one had a triple C in her era. Most people didn’t even have a 3-3 combination. Mao had the 3A but Yuna being able to do two 3-3 combos in her programs edged her out

There aren't many skaters who perform as consistently well as Yuna. Her balance is also good... Just watching her made me understand figure skating. At the time, Mao's triple Axel often had poor form or lacked rotation, while Yuna's triple program composition was higher. Her success rate was also higher, whereas Carolina's program composition was lower compared to Mao and Yuna, and her jump success rate was tremendously low.

Yall russian quads r literal triples.. they rotate at least 0.75 on ice and they underrotate 0.5...atp its js a triple. no wonder why triples look so easy on them because they jump it with same machanism and they are practically doubles..

To people saying Yuna wouldn't survive in 2022 since she didn't have any ultra-c elements like 3a or quads, it is actually meaningless to compare her in 2010s and others in 2020s. The weight of the skates became lighter and lighter, which made it easier to attempt harder elements. Furthermore Yuna didn't even have to take risk and practice ultra-c elements at her time since she could beat others even without them

She was a great skater but that was a different era. She barely have back to back clean programs and there wasn’t much competition back then (the only one to do an ultra c was mao, whose 3A was unstable). Yeah good triples are better than bad quads, but the bv of a bad quad is still higher than a triple. Now with blatant overscoring post 2014 and kfed being pushed out of relevance, she would hardly survive in this era. She’s still the goat tho

These newgens in the comments pmo sooo bad 😭 it’s so obvious they’re Russian fans because they try so hard to critize her technique and point scores knowing damn well she had perfect technique and that hammer toe isn’t a deduction. It wasn’t nearly as bad as skaters ex; Anna scherbakova evgenia, etc. she was never overscored and had it all. The full package, that’s why she won against Mao.

If you look at the "ultra C" elements that these Russian girls do, you'd see they're all cheated 😭 Yuna's triples have the same amount of rotations in the air as their "quads" because they're all pre-rotated excessively and they don't even leave the ice until they've already turned like halfway.
