For years I avoided the Dolomites because everyone said you needed a car… but after four trips, I’ve realised you can do the whole thing on foot and public transport just fine 🚄⛰️ I flew into Venice, hopped straight onto the Cortina Express and was in the mountains shortly after. No rental desks, no stress, just drop your bag and get out on the trails. The best part is how walkable everything is. I’ve hiked from Cortina to Corvara, up to the Seceda ridgeline and across some of the most beautiful valleys in the area without touching a single vehicle. The trail network is huge, well-marked and genuinely easy to navigate. And for the places you can’t reach on foot, the buses make it simple. A couple of euros, usually one an hour, and you’re off to another viewpoint, lake or ridgeline. It couldn’t be more straightforward. So if a car has been the thing putting you off, don’t let it. The Dolomites are absolutely doable without one. Would you try it this way?
