An acquaintance of mine had a Border Collie in a third-floor apartment. When he was outside, the dog would chase after everything: cyclists, cars, and runners. So sad. 😔🥺

Lol. not pets as much as companions that require care. Most dogs were purpose bred in the day. All dogs need to have needs met. Border Collies definitely need lots of active mental work and physical exercise. Buying any breed based off " looks" instead of careful honest look at your lifestyle and what the breed is genetically predisposed to is always a gamble. That applies to all breeds, not just Collies.

In my experience when we left the farm our collie didn't adapt to civilian life. Never been on a lead, didn't like walks & this lead to frustration & I could tell she was unhappy. in the end I gave her to my father who had a smallholding with horses & hens & she settled in really quickly herding both! She was my Dad's shadow too which was lovely plus she still got to see the children & us. It was the best end for everyone. In my opinion they need a job/task to do to keep them fit and mentally well. ❤️

I have a border collie and I run him 5-8 miles almost everyday!! he is an excellent pet for me, but not for my parents cuz they don't walk him or run him much

My border collies were great as pets but needed a job!!! Big balls in back yard to “herd”. Trained to chase a freebie! Loved long walks and hikes!

This is my working line border collie that has no will to work. Border collies are not for the weak and I always say “ do your research before getting one” they will make you question every life choice you’ve ever made 😂😂 but I wouldn’t be without him. Just make sure you can meet their needs.

All true! BC’s are amazing dogs! It saddens me when I see someone in an apartment with a BC or a husky that leaves the poor thing pent up for most the day. Then they complain how unruly and destructive they are. Duh! They need a job or task on a daily basis.

ive had to border collies and both have veen home reared never buy a border collie from a farm though as most are high energy more then home reared

Our first Border Collie would have been a great herder. She used to herd anything she could especially kids. Our second Border Collie is just a very sweet boy no herding abilities at all. Love them both. I would definitely get another one

I have a Border Collie as a pet but that is really difficult if you have no time to take care of it. I need to go out to the open and even where there is a lake for her swimming after the ball. if you are a sofa kind of person, please do not get a Border Collie...

I have a border collie and she would be a good sheep dog, but I do different dog sports and she just loves to work no matter what you do. But I still consider her a pet dog.

Dog breeds I will never own: border collie, australian shepherd, belgian malinois and jack russell terrier. I’m sure there are more, but these breeds are not for me and my lifestyle 😅
