In Homer's *Odyssey*, Odysseus survives, returns to Ithaca, kills the suitors, reunites with Penelope, and restores peace. The poem ends with him alive as king. so much that inaccurate BS His death (by Telegonus) appears in later post-Homeric stories, not the book itself.

Everyone arguing what the odyssey says when it's been retranslated and retold a bajillion different times across almost all media now is kind of wild. It was a verbal tale passed down and THEN written down. One game of telephone can explain why so many people have seen so many various things and how none of us are completely right 😂

FunFact: in Homer's Odyssey, after Odysseus killed the suitors and Hermes were ushering them to the underworld, Agamemnon found out what happened and how faithful Penelope is, he sang Penelope praises while disparaging his wife. The dude was genuinely happy that Penelope remained loyal to Odysseus and waited for him.
