What has always been beautiful to me is that Tolkien, as a Roman Catholic himself, often had his character’s embody figures or values from the bible. While some could argue that Frodo was a representation of Jesus, due to him carrying the ring and being the protagonist, I have always seen Frodo as man, flawed and frightened. He so often turns to the ring, to sin, and becomes cruel as it weighs on him but Sam remains. He cannot fix Frodo because there is nothing to be fixed, only understood and forgiven, presenting Sam as the Christ like figure in the story. Idk man, I’m not even Christian but this is so fascinating to me
