For anyone wondering why: it tarnishes ur self respect and makes them think ur vulnerable since ur family is not there to back u for certain decisions. Also majority of the time the mothers will meet u to get it over with, but a proper family will always ask for ur mothers number because they truly want to investigate the family since they consider u an option for their sons future.
