Everyone learning to surf!!! Paddling is incredibly important, you will naturally learn to read the ocean over time. Paddling will get you to good spots, get you out of very bad spots and get you into waves. The board in this video is very well matched volume wise for catching waves with minimal effort, if this was on a low volume board you would see some serious paddling!!

this is true! I saw the goat bethany hamilton charging huge waves in kauai and she didn’t paddle once! she gets herself positioned in the perfect spot and then just catches the wave and stands up immediately

I agree with this. Too often my new friends avoid the peak and misposition themselves or poorly time it but they were paddling fast enough

I did a surf lesson and they kept yelling for me to paddle and I felt like I was weak even though I know I’m not. It’s felt like I wasn’t moving until the wave caught me and I didn’t know timing to stand.
