ngl i partially think the issue with cutting so many scenes like your examples is that curse of forced realism in nowadays movies. i think the movie would turn out so much better if they let it be more fantastical. there’s a reason why the most magical scenes in the movie were the actual best

I need people to realize it didn’t need to be a bar for bar word for word adaption, but the heart of the story just wasn’t there, I didn’t even feel like Odysseus actually wanted to return home that badly, the characterization was off, there are parts I can understand cutting but there was also stuff I felt like didn’t need to be added in, like you couldn’t even add the nobody trick, really? That’s a great example of his quick thinking, then him giving away his name shows his pride, there was other moments that do this but this one was pivotal.

Nolan did what he wanted, which was make an epic movie to win awards. He did not make a faithful remake of the poem because he didn’t really give two shits about the original poem lol. Yes I’m annoyed and no I’m never rewatching the new one.
