Replying to @🪶 just to address a few things in one go vs a million comments . Yes the cats horses and dogs all receive vet care my mom is also a vet tech so trust everything has all medical needs met everything is de wormed on a set scheduel . Everything except cheshire her 2 babies , and the horses obviously are spayed Cheshire and the baby’s are set to be spayed the babies will not go on to have babies Cheshire will not have any more babies she has only had the one litter she had with her the day she showed up and then this one nobody is going to a shelter all have homes here till the day they pass we did not plan for her to have this litter but like I said she was already far along we knew she works perfect for what we need so we let her have them and raise them she’s taught them everything she knows about being a barn baddie and they are thriving bc of it . Lots of controversy abt letting a cat have kittens but for our lifestyle this was the best option with higher survival rate than adopting cats and just turning them loose these kittens know the place know the boundary to stay in and all the safe hiding spots thanks to their baddie of a mother . Milani was a inside cat went out one day and decided getting to roam free climb trees and hunt mice was the way to go hasn’t wanted to come back in since it’s been 5 years and she always has the option . Cheshire also had the option to be a inside kitty when the baby’s where born and even before that she was not abt it grabbed one and darted out the door back to the spot in the barn she had them these are not inner city cats or kittens kept inside since birth all where strays that showed up well past the kitten phase being inside gave them too much anxiety to the point it was not safe for their own well being to try and keep them inside so I didn’t fight them I let them be and do as they please . Where I live we are not worried about them being ran over they also stay pretty much in the barn or on the back porch and back yard . We do have preditors not as many with our dogs keeping watch on the place so that is their only risk with being outside however like I said they are smart and will come to the barn or house for saftey but can also defend themselves if needed . Not everyone’s way of life is the same it does not mean the cats are neglected just bc the lifestyle is diffrent also means they will not be happy suddenly being confined in a home after getting to live the way they where intended to. Even the most domestic cats still need outlets for their natural instincts which include stalking and hunting prey, seeking high perches for safety, scratching to mark territory, and hiding in small enclosed spaces my cats have all of this and the freedom to do it wherever they please they are more than happy this way if one was not I would simply let them inside 🤷🏼‍♀️ I do not love them any less because they are outside they do not get medically neglected because they are outside they get all the love and attention whenever they want and all have the option to come in if they’d like and they simply don’t
