I saw one artist make their skin straight up grey. And I wasn't sure if this was actually a bad attempt at dark skin or if it was like ... a parallel canon situation so I asked them why their skin was grey and their answer was ENTIRELY unhelpful. "It's a friends OC" doesn't answer the question. Language barrier issue? Maybe. But it's still frustrating.
