You are NOT required to let the K9 INSIDE your car without probable cause. They can sniff the outside of your car, but they cannot extend a traffic stop to make you wait for a K9 unit to arrive.

The dog sniff is constitutional and does not require PC if it takes place during a valid traffic stop regardless of the reason for said stop. If the traffic stop isn’t legit then the sniff would get tossed as well. Illinois v Caballes 2005
