What's funny is how everyone wants to claim they are the ancient Egyptians now, without a shred of evidence, while completely disrespecting and disregarding the living descendants. Where were you all when Egypt went through 2,295 years of continuous foreign occupation? For nearly 2,300 years, our people faced brutal oppression, worked to the bone, heavily taxed, and treated like second-class citizens in our own homeland. We were downgraded to a literal 'breadbasket' for foreign empires, while everyone took from us and stripped our wealth. You see the history of Black Americans and you sympathize. You have a heart for the Congo, for Palestine, and for all people who have been colonized and oppressed but you cannot find a shred of decency or humanity to acknowledge our oppression! You are the ones without a heart or a soul! We endured one of the longest continuous occupations in recorded history. We only gained our true independence back in 1952, and formally in 1953. We are newly free. We are not only rebuilding our country, but we are actively trying to restore and heal. How about you try healing 2,300 years of generational trauma? And now, we have peer-reviewed DNA studies specifically the 2025 genomic study published in Nature Prove that we held onto our genetics through all those centuries. The Fellahin, the Bedouins, the Copts we survived. We are the exact same indigenous people. Yet you spit in our faces, insult us, and disrespect our lineage. You only want to be Egyptian now because Egypt is finally rising again after everything we went through. No one wanted to be an Egyptian peasant back then, though. How quickly people forget. You will forever remember Egypt only at her heights. But we, the true Egyptians, will always remember her fall, because Egypt's greatest historical achievement wasn’t her pyramids. Her greatest achievement is her people outlasting every empire on Earth, rising back up, and claiming back their land and sovereignty! That is the real story of ancient and present day Egypt, her people and their incredible patience, resilience, and endurance. Now you can watch her rise as she is but you will always watch from a distance.
