There was a huge shift during and after WWII. all the men were overseas and the women went to work. For the first time in forever, women had a paycheck and autonomy. They were the breadwinners and learned they could manage just fine. Then the war ended, the men came home and they had to figure out a way to get the women to return to the kitchen, hence this type of propaganda.

Yeah it was not the ”feminist propaganda”. It was feeling something was very wrong, starting from childhood, and recognizing the power imbalances and roles wayy before being able to name them or theorize on anything. Just a faint ”feeling”, intuition, survival instinct. Then later trying to desperately search for others that felt the same (NOT easy because the nuclear family propaganda is EVERYWHERE).

It wasn't just propaganda. it was also the fact that many of the wives were underaged children. lots of orphan train brides. lots of little girls being forced to the marriages. the propaganda was mainly for them because it doesn't really work on full grown women unless you get them when they're very young.
