@phiwa.the.long.vi: Replying to @zintombizodwa.masombuka A personal thank you to the Zimbabweans who made my first months in Canada easier. This is my experience, and I’ll always be grateful. My 🇿🇼 aunt came to the UK in the early 2000s and became good friends with a 🇿🇦 woman of a similar age. She gave her a job in her cleaning business ebe engelamaphepha. For 16 years, she worked hard, sending money home to build a house and put her two children through school and university. February 2025, she finally received her papers. I helped her book her first flight home in 16 years. Her daughter even took leave from her cruise ship job so they could be reunited after all those years. The photos and videos she sent were full of joy. Three days before she was due to fly back to the UK, she suffered a heart attack and passed away. She only had one South African friend here. The people who rallied around her, packed up her flat, supported her family, and mourned her were mostly Zimbabweans, alongside Nigerians. We even travelled to KZN this year to pay our respects and meet her family. That's why these conversations break my heart. Compassion doesn't have a nationality. In the end, we all need each other. No one is an island. (Sorry it’s too long)

I am who I am today because a Zimbabwean sister believed in me and lifted me up when I needed it most. Along the way, my Nigerian brothers and sisters became a strong pillar of support, standing by me as a fellow African. I will always be grateful for the love, encouragement, and unity that remind us we rise by lifting one another 🥰🥰🥰

My experience with them abroad is their loving nature, especially Ndebele people … it is sad to see what is happening back at home.. Zimbabweans will help you get on your feet as they have been here longer than some of us.. their kindness is unmatched ❤️❤️

Always. Back in New Zealand, I was a Manufacturing Operations Manager and hired fellow black South Africans who were looking for work. It didn’t matter to me that they weren’t Zimbabwean,we all left Africa for one reason or another.
